Incarnate - the World of Torment

"Between Heaven and Hell, there is only Torment"

"When the Hellgate appeared, the Hordes of the Immortal Hells sprang forth, and their Daemonic generals conquered and enslaved the lands of mankind. In response, the Empyrean Heavens answered the command of the Divinity, and by its word the Serapthic Legions of Heaven came down from the Higher Realms to meet the Hells in battle.

For countless eons, the Incarnate War was fought viciously, as Light and Hellfire clashed against each other in devastation. All the while, in their wake they left only suffering and regret, as the lands of Mortal Kin transformed, and humanity's hearts sought comfort and purpose in either of the two sides. Mankind, no longer bound by common kinship, tore each other apart by fighting for either the Hells or the Heavens.

Then one day, at the crucial battle between the most powerful of the Devils and Daevans, three of the Arch-Seraphs betrayed their Heavenborn brethren, and turned their wings away from Divinity and the Heavens. With the Hells left standing as the victors, Divinity turned its back on Torment, and took the Heavens with it in its retreat.

After all was done and the final swords and fires were laid to rest, all that was left was Torment; incarnated through the tenants of blood, war, and betrayal.

It has been a thousand years since the Incarnate War ended and the Incarnation forever changed and reformed these realms. In that time the Higher Realms and the Lower Realms, divided between the rule of the Incarnate Lords of the Daemonic Princes and the Seraphtic Triumvirate, have maintained their Bloodbound Truce, despite some lingering gripes and ill tensions between Daemon, Seraph, and Man."

Another of my "smaller" worldbuilding projects, that I started on last week, in fact. There's not much else to it right now, and the map is still subject to a lot of change, so it's essentially still a very early-stage WIP project.

This is one of my biggest maps, clocking out at 18500x9500px resolution. But it it is also pretty much mostly empty right now in terms of its labelled locations.
