As one of the Nua, Quetzula's physical Vessel had long perished many centuries before the Ashen Era. But even so, she is still considered one of the most powerful among the Nua, despite being bound to her ethereal Shroud. To compensate for her lack of a Vessel of her own, she makes use of Kindred mortals, whose minds and Vessel she can possess, and in doing so she continues to rule over the Empire she built centuries ago. When a Kindred's Vessel falters, new candidates are picked to allow Quetzula to reign eternally as Queen.
