Waysworn - Discus Half-Sphere

The Discus Half-Sphere is a theoretical model first made in collaboration between Arrivalfolk astrologers and cartographers, around some time during the first century of their initial landfall in the Great Arrival. The model's main claim indicates that the existence we inhabit is a flat disc. It is also shown to be en-capsuled by a sort of sky-dome that curves along the heavens. A second, semi-separate dome is posed to be on the unknowable bottom side of the disc, which would then in theory complete the full sphere.

The Discus is overall made up of various half-rings and bands, which together represent different material and immaterial sections of the world's shape, including the ever-present Pathways, which each represent a small but mostly tangible slice of the greater half-sphere.

Knowing the full shape and structure of the world and universe is regarded as impossible, mainly because of how the entity known as Doom & Obscurity erases and remakes the lands it touches, and the fact that memories of the World Before are scattered and forgotten to any Newcomers who arrive in the Wayafter.

However, the Discus model suggests that the greater world is divided into primarily two halves, which effectively makes it two distinct world-halves: The World Before on the cardinal western world-half, and the World Wayafter on the cardinal eastern world-half. Learned scribes, starwatchers, and metaphysicists simply just refer to this current understanding of existence as "Discus".
