"In the distant past, before the Wights were reborn and made anew from the Rebirth of Mankind, their ancestors were gifted power and elevated by the ancient and mighty Eld Dragons. But come the Decadent Age, those who once worshiped dragons turned against them, in favour of serving the arisen gods and their Saints.
During the Divines War, the Wight Kings hunted down the last remaining dragons, and consumed their incredible power for themselves; hoping that it would be enough to withstand the newly arrived Dark Gods. But the covetous and cowardly Kings kept the power to themselves, and in turn saw the world of humanity perish as the last Saints fell, and only the Wight Kings themselves were spared; hidden away in their castles and bastions.
Wights of today are descendants of dragon-worshipers become Saint-servers. But as both dragon and saints are now long gone, Wights now serve the Dark Gods, but many also remain loyal to their immortal kings of old; who still remain hidden within their impenetrable fortresses of their fading kingdoms. Wights are best known for their cultures of knighthood and Saints, though no more Saints remain for them to serve. Instead a Wight knight might serve their kingdom, or wander beyond their known lands for distant quests or desires of errant fame. Famed Orders such as the Embered Templars of Quelador, Wilting Knights, or the Unsainted Princes continue to boost the word of storied Wighted knighthood.
Wights are one of the most common general cultures of Mankind in the Reborn World. They are mainly found in the Central Realms, where they converge in many places such as Godswatch, Moonfell, Lysaria, Vow of Shadows, the Riven Lands, the Dragon Ash, and Quelador. Wights have a tendency to loyally remain near the kingdoms of their birth, and these kingdoms were old even before the Ruination. Some of these kingdoms include Azure Kalantha, Sunless Wesshric, Frozen Iscilen, Solemn Cailan, Unbroken Kharon, Saintless Serrah, Stalwart Wist, Hollow Vengael, Wilted Caithmore, and Valynia of the Dusk."
